About SABER- What is SABER and what do you mean by "empowered" data services? ANSWER

SABER is the result of more than 20 years of development and proven client service. Please visit About for an overview of our company and founder biographies.
SABER is NOT software - but rather a unique service focused upon solving risk data challenges for P&C risk managers and their advisors in an outsourced environment. By assuming the tasks associated with transforming risk data into information, and providing sound advice relative to the client's opportunities, we empower them to improve risk management results.SABER includes two service categories.
First, an outsourced casualty report service that is typically ¼ the cost of RMIS software.
- SABER consolidates historical claim & exposure data and then both generates and distributes by email a tailored set of monthly risk management reports. At inception, and as an ongoing partner, SABER helps clients convey the right information to a broad constituency - both inside and outside their organizations.
And, second, SABER Online - a web hosted risk data gathering and management solution that is fully tailored to address each client's unique needs.
- Incident & claim reporting, insurance renewal data gathering, data management for multi-country programs, risk or safety surveys and inspection results are examples of past challenges & opportunities successfully addressed utilizing SABER Online.

- Does your company name (SABER) mean or stand for anything specific? ANSWER

We thought a unique service deserved a company name with meaning. One of our founders is fluent in Spanish and the word saber in Spanish means "to know a fact," "to know how," or "to possess knowledge." At SABER Risk Solutions we are passionate about turning data into knowledge and look forward to helping you turn your risk data into a strategic asset.

- What is SABER's "core competency"? ANSWER

Our core competency is expertise in utilizing technology wisely and efficiently to support Risk Professionals responsible for large risk and insurance programs.
We know and stay current on the nuances of most claim administrator and Insurance Company data sources - and we have developed a model that enables us to consolidate historical claim and other data from multiple sources accurately and efficiently. Through experience we understand the data and reporting challenges Risk Management departments face. We have a track record of helping clients not only address those challenges but capitalize upon opportunities for improvement.
We firmly believe the axiom - "what gets measured gets managed". The difficulty in Risk Management is refining the measurement and then communicating the right findings to the right people. Your SABER team is dedicated solely to this essential component of your risk management process.

- Is SABER affiliated with any other organization? Broker? Insurance Company? TPA? ANSWER

SABER is a completely independent organization and is not affiliated with any Broker, Consultant, Insurance Company, TPA or any other business.

- Can you tell us how other firms are benefitting from your services? ANSWER

The Client Results section of our website contains several case studies that describe how clients & partners have successfully utilized SABER's expertise and solutions to overcome risk data challenges and improve their organization's risk management process. Please refer to that information - but also contact us directly to discuss your specific needs.

- Do you provide any claims or risk control services? Do you work with brokers, Insurance Companies, TPA's or Consultants? ANSWER

We provide only data management and risk analysis services and do not provide any of the above services. However, we do work jointly with Brokers and other service providers to assist them with the data management element of services they provide to clients. Because we are focused upon risk information management and do not provide additional services, we do not compete with any of these organizations.

- Does SABER provide actuarial services? Can you include loss development in our reports? ANSWER

We are not actuaries. However, we can apply claim count and incurred loss development factors in many of our reports and do work with clients to create custom estimated ultimate loss reports to meet their needs. Our system contains a set of industry factors that we can utilize - or, we can apply client specific factors upon request.
While we can apply these development techniques to a number of our reports, we strongly recommend a more rigorous approach to actuarial analysis. SABER experts will gladly provide referrals to qualified actuaries.
We frequently work with actuaries and our involvement often streamlines the process by providing them with appropriate data for their analysis.

- Are there any limitations to SABER's services that we should be aware of? ANSWER

We have worked with data from many client systems for exposure or other internal data. And, we have worked with loss data from every major Insurance Company and TPA and have not encountered data sources that we cannot accommodate. However, it is always possible that an unusual source will create challenges that cannot be easily overcome.
Also, there are situations where a full Risk Management Information System implementation is appropriate to meet the complex needs of some clients. In such cases the SABER team will provide candid and objective recommendations and clearly disclose the reasons why our service bureau approach will not effectively meet your needs.

- Can SABER provide reports to support our allocation process? Can you help us design an allocation process? ANSWER

Loss sensitive allocations are a very common request from clients and in our opinion a valuable element of a successful risk management program. We have considerable experience in developing both the process and monthly reports necessary to allocate premiums and loss costs on a "loss sensitive" basis. We provide clients with both sound advice and the necessary ongoing monthly support to accurately administer the allocation.

- How do you determine the charges for your services? ANSWER

Please also see Pricing for details as to how SABER's two service categories are priced.
For SABER's outsourced casualty solutions - we charge a nominal initial fee to establish your client profile and create the processes needed to develop and deliver your reports. The minimum initial fee is $2,500. To date, no client has exceeded $10,000. This is a onetime implementation cost and it does not affect ongoing service fees.
The second and only other charge is for ongoing monthly services. This amount is determined primarily from the number of incoming data sources and the frequency of email report distribution (monthly report preparation is our recommendation and is used by most of our clients).
Because we use technology wisely, the number of reports produced and the number of recipients does not significantly increase your costs. Our minimum annual fee for report preparation and monthly distribution is $12,000. Typical payment is quarterly in advance. We do provide a discount for advance annual payment.
SABER Online fees are determined by the complexity of the solution or database design and the anticipated annual services to be delivered by SABER. Each client's solution and the service profile are specific to their needs. Typically SABER Online costs are below $25,000 annually. Please see the Client Results section for examples of how clients utilize SABER Online to improve data processes and risk management results.

- Can SABER produce sample reports or a sample of a SABER Online solution? Will there be a cost for those sample reports? ANSWER

Yes we will and there is not a charge.
If requested, we will produce an initial set of sample reports and/or a sample SABER Online data collection and management solution from actual data provided by the prospective client. This demonstration of capabilities using actual data is limited to a reasonable amount of incoming data and solution development. For example we often load one current claim data source and produce sample analysis and reports. Or, in the case of a SABER Online demonstration, the volume of incoming data and solution design time include reasonable limitations. There is no charge and most of our clients began their relationship with SABER in this way.
If you want to review sample casualty reports, please refer to the Sample Casualty Solutions section of our website. Or, call us for a web meeting where we'll show specific samples reports or provide an online demonstration of a number of SABER Online solutions.
Also, please check the Test Drive section. Most of our clients shared their own loss or exposure data with SABER prior to formally engaging our services. This is the most effective and efficient way for SABER and prospective clients to evaluate whether the SABER solution is a good fit.

- Can SABER include our logo on all of our reports? ANSWER

Yes. We can include your logo and can adhere to your corporate identity standards. There is a nominal onetime charge for this customization included in the initial fee but no ongoing costs.

- How do we get started with your services? ANSWER

Most clients begin their relationship with SABER by taking a Test Drive. For details - Test Drive.
For outsourced casualty solutions, simply arrange for your Insurance Company, TPA, broker or other service provider to send us an initial electronic set of loss data. After we have reviewed the data, SABER will contact you to discuss your needs and what we see within the data. During that first discussion we'll share report samples that may be beneficial to your risk management process. This is often done in a 30-45 minute web meeting.
When you are ready to move forward we will produce the complete set of reports for your review & approval, work with you to establish the distribution list for all reports, create a formal Client Service Agreement for your signature, assign a dedicated SABER Account Executive, and schedule production of your reports.
For SABER Online, simply discuss your challenges gathering and managing risk data with us and provide samples of surveys, asset files or other source data. From that data and our discussion, SABER will produce a sample data solution and be prepared to discuss how we might help improve process and results. As with SABER's outsourced casualty solutions, this demonstration is often conducted in a brief web meeting. The sample solution is typically utilized as the foundation for tailoring a data process improvement to meet the client's specific needs.
For both SABER services - the nature of our ongoing outsourced relationship with clients enables a continual refinement of the solution.

- How long does it take to implement your services? ANSWER

For outsourced casualty solutions, we can often be ready to begin delivering your casualty reports in as little as two weeks following receipt of data, your customization instructions and other necessary details.
SABER Online implementations are typically less than two months and have been as rapid as several weeks.
We have the resources and experience needed to meet reasonable time frames for implementations. Implementation with SABER is Not like implementing RMIS software. Because of SABER's outsourced relationship, the implementation is less cumbersome on everyone. Clients aren't rushed and SABER resources aren't looking to finish and move on. SABER tailors our solutions to the clients needs and then as an extension of the client's team, we respond to changes and work together to improve results.
